博士论文

Huang, Yiyun. “Medicinal Tea: Global Cultural Transfer and A Vast Early America” (PhD dissertation, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, 2023)

我的博士论文提出,晚期中华帝国与英属北美之间存在紧密的文化联系。有关茶叶药用功效的知识在18世纪从中国传播到了北美。直到19世纪前半叶,中国一直是世界上茶叶产量最高的国家。晚明与清代(1580-1780)的医药学家和鉴赏家对饮茶可以治疗多种疾病的观点,重新进行了整理和阐释。在1600至1750年间,构建于中欧之间的商业与知识网络将这些知识传播到了大西洋世界。18世纪的北美殖民者消费了大量的茶叶,主要是为了获得身体的益处,而他们是借由欧洲人翻译和整理的中医文献了解到这些益处的。
